Art Camp 2011
An exciting summer of arts and crafts for young childrenDubai, United Arab Emirates, May 30th 2011: After the success of Art Camp 2010, The Farjam Foundation @ DIFC announces the exciting second edition of its summer Art Camp programme for children. This four-week programme will offer young children between the ages of 7-10 the chance to be an artist forthe summer, to take part in diverse learning experiences through worksheets and games, and practice awide range of artistic techniques through hands-on art activities surrounded by rare and outstanding artworks from Dr Farjam’s expansive collection. Children will have the chance to discover art in all its varieties with weekly rotating activities in calligraphy, painting, ceramics, sculptures, and photography.During Art Camp, children themselves will have the chance to judge each others artworks with the artworks of the competition winners being unveiled at a special end of camp exhibition for allparticipating children to show off their creations.This year, The Farjam Foundation is excited to announce that Art Camp 2011 will be running an additional programme in collaboration with START, a non-profit organisation established by Art Dubai and the Al Madad Foundation that applies the universal language of art to heal, educate and enrich the skills and opportunities of children in the poorest areas of the region. This year, The “Tuesday Group” will be held at The Farjam Foundation @ DIFC at 3.30pm-5:00pm and will run once a week for the duration of the Art Camp Programme. We hope that this fruitful and exciting collaboration between START and The Farjam
Collection will continue well into the future. Work made by the children of the “Tuesday Group” will appear alongside the work of the other participants of Art Camp in pride of place.START ‘s weekly "Tuesday Group" workshops for children with special needs such as Autism and Down Syndrome, normally held at The Jam Jar, aims to help children augment their critical thinking; problemsolving and cognitive development. The workshops are taught by practicing artists who volunteer their time to create lesson plans and directly engage with the children. START's volunteers work with the children on a one to one basis and an exhibition at the end of term is held, where friends, family and
members of the art community come to enjoy the achievements of the children. The Farjam Foundation’s summer Art Camp 2011 marks a further step by collector and patron Dr FarhadFarjam to bring world class art and high quality educational programming to the region. Twice the recipient of the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Distinguished Patrons of the Arts Award for his contribution to the development of Dubai’s art and culture scene, Dr Farjam is passionate about the importance of education in the arts at all levels and reaches out to national and international audiences through The Farjam Foundation @ DIFC.

exhibition for parents on 28 July, 6:00pm, Children can participate in 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks
